The Environmental Health Department provides a variety of services in Carroll & Crawford Counties.

Carroll and Crawford County Services include:

  • Free Private Well Testing through Grants To Counties
  • Well Plugging Program through Grants To Counties 
  • Private Well Permitting  
  • Private Septic System Permitting
  • Pool and Spa Inspections
  • Tanning Bed Inspections
  • Tattoo Establishment Inspections
  • Time of Transfer Requirements for Septic Systems  
  • Air Quality Issues-Radon, Carbon Monoxide, Mold 
  • Emergency Preparedness Coalition
  • Other Public Health Complaint (non-food related) Investigations.

Food inspection services that were once provided by the county office are handled by the State Department of Inspections and Appeals for Carroll and Greene Counties, and the Shelby County Environmental Health Department for Crawford County.

The Carroll County Environmental Health Department is also a Passport Acceptance Agency.
